SameSun Backpackers Lodge (1018 Granville Street) A fantastic large-scale hostel with great amenities including pool tables and a nice bar. Can't beat the location either if you want to be in the heart of downtown.

Pacific Spirit Hostel (at UBC) (Only open Mar. 15 - Aug. 15) In the summertime UBC opens it residences for backpackers.

Cambie International Hostel (310 Cambie Street) Housing one of, if not the oldest, bar in BC, this place is known for its great parties.

Cambie International Hostel (515 Seymour Street) A stylish bar with a more smaller-scale hostel located above it.

C&N Backpackers (927 Main Street) Just a short walk to the downtown core and a hop away from Science World.

C&N Backpackers (aka Central Station Hostel, at 1038 Main Street) Geared more towards groups and longer-terms stay, this hostel is located right by the train/bus depot.

St. Clair Hotel (577 Richards Street) These guys straddle the hostel/budget hotel line, so they only have private rooms. They're in a great downtown location and the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful.

YWCA Hotel/Residence (733 Beatty Street) The Y is a hotel that offers private rooms only but they cater to a lot of travellers and offer top quality accommodation for the price!
