Dining in Victoria


Sine Cafe has fantastico coffee, delicious all day breakfast and incredibly attentive service that make sure you are never without a full cup of coffee. Open 7am-4pm this brightly coloured cafe serves up fresh local ingredients in fantastically creative ways. Check the specials board for whatever wild breakfast creation the team in the kitchen has prepared for that day. It’s a 2-minute walk from the hostel.


Pink Bicycle serves up amazing gourmet burgers and is a quick 6-minute walk from the hostel.


Hope Key has undisputedly the best, and possibly cheapest, Chinese noodle boxes in town. They’ve got great bubble tea too and are a short 4-minute walk from the hostel.

Foo has the best Asian street food in town and is only a 3-minute walk from the hostel.


John’s Place is a great place, just minutes away from our hostel. Founded in 1984, John’s Place has been serving Victoria for over 30 years. This restaurant is famous for its ever-changing ‘soup du jour’ and many other mouthwatering dishes. Need more reasons to go?
They also have amazing staff, cozy atmosphere and play quirky tunes.

Blue Fox Cafe is a favourite amongst locals and it will probably be your favourite too. Indulge yourself in all the different Eggs Benedict covered with creamy rich Hollandaise sauce. And while you’re at it.. Why not enjoy one of their many great coffees too? Expect a line-up here, but remember.. If people are waiting for it, it’s probably worth waiting for! It’s an 8-minute walk from the hostel.

Floyd’s Diner their guests amazing breakfast, lunch and brunch. Satisfy your tastebuds with the best chicken ‘n waffles in town or one of their amazing hashes. If you are feeling adventurous, order their Mahoney to get a unique dish created just for you! You can either pay the original price or take the gamble and flip a coin for double or nothing. If you win, you pay nothing. If you lose, you pay double.. It’s your choice! It’s a 21-minute walk from the hostel.


Pagliacci’s offers delicious Italian cuisine in an unforgettable Victoria-meets-New York atmosphere and is a nice 10-minute walk from the hostel. There’s often a lineup but it’s totally worth the wait!


Nubo has fabulous Japanese tapas and is a 1-minute walk from the hostel.


La Taquisa uses old family recipes to offer their guests appetizing, authentic Mexican food and makes everything with locally sourced products. It’s a 5-minute walk from the hostel.


Brickyard Pizza is hard to beat! You can order by the slice or order an entire Thick as a Brick pizza. And they’re licensed too! Show your room receipt to get 10% off food! It’s right around the corner from the hostel and you can skip there in 3-minutes!


Red Fish Blue Fish is probably the best fish and chips in town, whether you want it battered, grilled or in a tacone. Add an amazing location where you can you sit and watch the seaplanes come and go, and you’ve got the perfect lunch spot. Open seasonally, so make sure to check their website first. It’s about a 12-minute walk from the hostel.

Willows Galley is a long-standing fish and chips place in Estevan Village, close to Willows Beach. They go out fishing every week and prepare what they catch. Although fish and chips is their specialty, they serve big burgers and hot dogs as well. We can highly recommend their burgers but everything on the menu is worth trying! It’s a 10-minute drive from the hostel.

Barb’s Fish & Chips is a seasonal fish and chips joint at Fisherman’s Wharf, it used to be reasonably priced but apparently not-so-much anymore. Great atmosphere though you get to sit at two open air picnic tables and check out the houseboats.. how cool is that?! It’s a half-hour walk from the hostel.


Siam serves up delicious Thai cuisine, has a huge menu and fantastic prices! It’s an 11-minute walk from the hostel.

Vegetarian & Vegan

Rebar is an awesome vegetarian/vegan restaurant serves up delicious dishes using locally sourced food, so everything is fresh as can be. A great place for lunch or dinner during the week, and an excellent place for brunch on the weekends. Make sure you grab one of their fresh juices while you’re there. It’s a 9-minute walk from the hostel.


Green Leaf Bistro is our favourite Vietnamese restaurant in town, and it’s just a 4-minute walk from the hostel.
