James Bay Neighbourhood

James Bay is the oldest neighbourhood in the city of Victoria. The lively waterfront and charming Victorian houses will take you on an epic journey.

A 7-minute drive or a 25-minute walk from the hostel will get you to this amazing neighbourhood, where you can experience so many things!

James Bay is surrounded by water on three sides. Many of Victoria’s main attractions are located in this neighbourhood. Ogden Point Cruise Terminal, Parliament Buildings, Royal BC Museum, Beacon Hill Park, Fisherman’s Wharf and many hotels can be found here. If that isn’t enough, you can also experience horse-drawn carriages and waterfront walkways!

The neighbourhood is very walkable and boasts many local shops and restaurants. There is a weekly farmers market every Saturday from May to September.

Depending on where you want to go, the neighbourhood is approximately 15-30 minutes away from the hostel by walking. Ask one of our front desk staff for a map and head down for a lovely afternoon/evening!
