Beacon Hill Park

Beacon Hill Park is known for many things. The flowers, the peacocks, Children’s Farm and some beautiful lookout points. No wonder many of our staff think it’s a great place for a picknick. We recommend sitting by the bridge, but why not take a look for yourself and find your favourite spot? See on Google Maps.

Mount Douglas

We love Mount Douglas and we think you will too! Public transport makes it easy and cheap to get there and back to downtown Victoria and you’ll furthermore be impressed by the beautiful nature and the view at the top. If you have a vehicle, you can drive to the top but we recommend hiking one of the easy trails to the top. Bring water, snacks and a positive attitude and you’ll reach the top in no time! See on Google Maps.

Anderson Hill Park

Anderson Hill Park is a small but beautiful hill park in Oak Bay. Enjoy beautiful views of the Olympic Mountain Range and the surrounding islands. Pro-tip: there’s a small coffee shop named Delish near Anderson Hill Park which has great coffees and tasty treats. Good for taking with you to the park or to grab after. See on Google Maps.

Eateries

Cenote

Cenote is conveniently located on Yates and Blanshard and is just two blocks away from us. It’s a hidden gem as not many people know about it and since they are located downstairs, most people don’t even see it when walking by. But if you make a stop there, you won’t be disappointed. Chill atmosphere, with the best nachos and cocktails. A great night out. Just be careful going up the stairs afterwards. 😉 Check them out on Instagram @cenotevictoria

Bin 4 Burger Lounge

One of the best burger joints in town (only tied with Pink Bicycle) with great burgers and sides. It’s always busy, especially if you go after 9 pm, as you’ll get 50% off of any burger when you buy a drink! W-O-W. One of their locations is located a 10 min walk from Ocean Island Inn, so whenever you missed our free dinner. Bin 4 would be a good place to go and grab some food. Jam Café

In Victoria, we love to go out for brunch. With so many of us loving brunch, it may come as no surprise that there’s a lot of places in town that serve brunch. But what’s the best place in town..? Survey says Jam Café! Think modern comfort food, great staff and the best drinks on the side. Immerse yourself in a world full of fluffy pancakes, brioche french toast and buttermilk fried chicken – we promise you will not regret it! Check them out on Instagram @jamcafevictoria

Activities

Whale Watching

The obvious activity of choice would be to go on a Whale Watching Trip. Before you ask if it’s worth it – Yes, it is. You’ll be on the water for 3,5 hours to see all kinds of marine wildlife which is a magical experience. Not convinced? Well, their staff is great too and are able to answer all your burning questions about the ocean and all its creatures. And last but certainly not least, you can also choose what kind of boat you would like to be on. Hop on the Zodiac for a thrilling and bumpy ride or travel in comfort on one of the covered vessels. Kayaking in the Inner Harbour

You can walk alongside the Inner Harbour but you can kayak in the harbour itself! Pro-tip: it’s not as busy as the walkway and you get to see things from a different perspective! Join a kayak tour and paddle your morning, afternoon or evening away in one of the most picturesque spots of Victoria. Check out our Guest Discounts page for rates and bookings!

Bug Zoo

Not to bug you, but the Bug Zoo in Victoria is a really fun thing to do. Discover many interesting species such as giant walking sticks, beautiful praying mantis, glow-in-the-dark scorpions, hairy tarantulas, and Canada’s largest ant colony. Galloping Goose Trail

Cyclists, this one is for you! Of course, Victoria is already beautiful enough on its own to cycle around. But did you know that there’s a 45 km bike trail ready for you to explore? It’s part of the Galloping Goose Trail, which starts at the ferry terminal and goes all the way to the wilderness in Sooke. Best enjoyed in summer, make sure to make sufficient hydration breaks and take a lot of photos too! View the full trail map at www.gallopinggoosetrail.com

Although Victoria is small, there’s plenty of stuff to do in and around town. Although this post lists many things to do, it’s definitely not a conclusive list of what Victoria has to offer. To find out what Victoria is all about we can only recommend this: go out, explore and have fun!
