Historic Character Building

Ocean Island Inn is housed in a landmark heritage building originally constructed in 1891. It's been an integral part of Victoria's downtown history for well over a century, and was converted to its current use as a hostel in 2000.

The building is an ongoing labour of love — being carefully and continually restored to preserve its original character. The exposed brick, original woodwork, and vintage details throughout are part of what gives Ocean Island its distinctive atmosphere.
