What's On in Victoria This Week: Halloween, Laughs & More

What's On in Victoria This Week: Halloween, Laughs & More — abstract illustration

Halloween week in Victoria is one of my favourite times of year. The leaves are going crunchy, the rain has officially moved back in (we get a lot of it this time of year, won't lie), and the whole city seems to remember it loves dressing up. Here's my pick of what's worth getting out for this week, whether you're into big laughs, something a bit scary, or a cozy night with a good book.

Midweek Fun

Comedy Night Picks: Wednesday, October 28

If your week needs a laugh, Wednesday is your night. Victoria Buzz's round-up leads with some laugh-out-loud comedy, a nice warm-up before the Halloween madness kicks in properly.

Cult Classic or Drag Show? Thursday, October 29

Thursday comes down to one question: a Halloween cult classic on the big screen, or a scary drag show? Honestly, both sound like a good night out. Pick based on how loud you want to cheer.

Halloween Night: Saturday, October 31

Bonfires & Fireworks Around Greater Victoria

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and the region is going all in with bonfires and fireworks displays in and around Greater Victoria. Some of these are outside downtown, so check the round-up for locations and then plan your route on bctransit.com. Dress warm and bring a rain layer. Trust me.

Trick-or-Treating With Kids

Travelling with little ghosts and goblins? This list rounds up 10 trick-or-treating spots across Greater Victoria, so the kids don't miss out just because they're away from home.

Something Different

Video Game Marathon for Charity: All Week (Started October 23)

A week-long video game marathon kicked off on Friday, October 23, raising money for a children's charity. It's a feel-good way to support a local cause, especially if gaming is your thing. Check the article for how to tune in or get involved.

New Local Murder Mystery: Sunday, November 1

For a slower post-Halloween Sunday, a Victoria author is releasing *Murder at the Otter Cove Market*, a new murder mystery written after a battle with cancer. It's a lovely story behind the book, and a mystery is perfect reading for a rainy island day.

Coming Up in November

'Heated Rivalry' Marathons

If you're staying into next month, two Victoria theatres are hosting 'Heated Rivalry' marathons this November. The hockey is spicy and so is the rest. Exact dates and screening details are in the article.

Dates and details can shift, so tap through to each source before you head out. Not sure which bus gets you to the bonfire, or want ideas for the rest of your stay? Swing by the Ocean Island front desk. We're always happy to help you find your way around. Happy Halloween! 🎃
