Although we have a free dinner included in all our rates, we understand the importance of cooking your own meals. Luckily, we have a big communal kitchen on our ground floor which is open 24/7. Fully stocked with whatever you might need (yes we even have crockpots!) you can easily whip up yummy meals. Furthermore, to help you find the best produce and food items, we compiled a list with all of the grocery stores in our neighbourhood.
1010 Pandora Avenue
Newly opened on Pandora and Vancouver street, this huge Save On Foods grocery store has everything you need. Their deli section features great sandwiches and yummy snacks for on the go, but in case you want to cook that Michelin Star dinner – they have all the items for that as well. Only two blocks away from Ocean Island, this is our absolute go to supermarket.
903 Yates Street
Ever did your groceries while surrounded by neon signs? Market on Yates is probably the most hip supermarket to do your groceries which is also aided by their great organic produce, health foods and great bakery with lots of pastries for late night snackin’.
2635 Quadra St
If you’re looking to delve deeper into the exciting world of supermarkets, why not go for a stroll and visit Fairway Market in Quadra Village. The best things about this store? Great prices and stocked to the roof with hard to find international foods from all over the world. Furthermore, their deli counter is well known for being one of the best in the city.
475 Simcoe Street
Thrifty Foods is a more upscale grocery store, with a really good selection of stuff. Bonus points for this particular Thrifty’s location as it’s open 24/7, which means that you can do your groceries at anytime. It’s therefore perfect for those late light snacks or if you’re feeling up for it: cooking a meal at 3 am in the morning.
Just want to get something quickly? Why not visit one of the following convenience stores in downtown Victoria?
1327 Douglas Street
Hip-hop super group Salt ‘n Pepa name dropped this chain on their hit single “Whatta Man” and that’s for good reason. It’s always open and you can get a lot of convenience items here. Also very popular to grab a hot snack such as a corn dog or taquito after dancing the night away.
1304 Douglas Street
Formerly known as Mac’s, these 24/7 convenience stores have since been re-branded to Circle K. They have a variety of hot and cold drinks and snacks and you’ll be sure to find something you like.
Although Victoria is rich with great restaurants and other food options, we understand that eating out can become expensive, especially if you’re on a budget! Take advantage of the nearby stores and make yourself a great flavorful meal in our big kitchen.
